Mrs. Bowen started dancing and performing when she was 5 years old. Her very first performance was as a baton twirling clown in a parade! Mrs. Bowen studied dance and took part in performances throughout her childhood and went on to become a member of the Richmond Ballet Company, performing in such ballets as Giselle, Swan Lake,La Boutique Fantasque, and The Nutcracker Suite. Mrs. Bowen graduated from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia with a Bachelor's Degree in Dance. She then embarked on a professional modern dance career which included performing, teaching, and stage managing with dance companies in Raleigh, North Carolina and Seattle, Washington. Mrs. Bowen continued her education at the University of Washington in Seattle and became a Certified Movement Analyst. In January 1988, Mrs. Bowen started teaching in elementary schools in Wake County and has been teaching at Conn since 1996. She lives in Cary with her husband, son and daughter (twins), two cats, and one dog.
