4th Grade Focus Areas
1st Quarter: Tap
Let’s put on our Conn dancing shoes and make some noise! In this class, students will enhance their rhythmic perception, balance and coordination as they advance from single sound basics to more complex combination sounds of tap. Students will create their own tap steps and sequences to add to movement phrases they learn in class. The chance to shine will be at Conn Showcase Day in November.
2nd Quarter: Creative Choreographers
Come create, collaborate, think critically, communicate and make some dances! You will make your own dance phrases and sequences using or applying choreographic structures such as ABA form, theme and variation, and chance dance to create performance ready pieces to share.
3rd Quarter:
4th Quarter: Dancing Across NC
From clogging in the mountains to the shag on the coast, students will experience many forms of dance associated with the regions of North Carolina. Students will learn about the history of dance in our state as they skip, hop, stomp, and roll from the mountains to the coastal plain.
