3rd Grade
1st Quarter: Healthy Movers
Let’s get moving! We will dance, jump, kick and strut, then stretch and balance with the fitness balls. Students will participate in fun activities to gain strength and flexibility, increase cardiovascular fitness levels, and promote a healthy lifestyle.
2nd Quarter: Dancing Around the World
Passports required for dancing our way around the world. As students learn the steps and rhythm patterns of more complex dances from a wide variety of countries, they will continue to develop such skills as timing and coordination and remembering longer sequences of movement. Students will keep a dance passport to document countries we visit through dance and will share their favorite dances in a performance during the December Showcase Night.
3rd Quarter: Intro to Tap
Let’s make some noise! This class will introduce students to the technique of tap dancing and the history of the art form. The focus will be on rhythmic perception, balance, coordination, and fun.
4th Quarter: Science in Motion
Students will use creative dance to define, discover and explore grade level specific science concepts. Our muscles and bones will be put to use to understand how we perform certain dance movements and to explore sun, earth, and moon systems.
